5 summer superfoods you need to try

Spotted a menu item or recipe on Pinterest you can’t pronounce? They may sound scary, but these nutrition-packed superfoods are actually as tasty, versatile and convenient as they are good for you. They’re guaranteed to curb those pesky cravings and make for perfect pairings with your Optiwell. Too easy!   Dark chocolate As though you needed another reason to eat it everyday, dark chocolate is loaded with antioxidants and mood-boosting chemical compounds. Even a thumb-sized piece is packed with fibre, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, and other nutrients.  Eat as is or shave and sprinkle over your Optiwell for an indulgent after-dinner treat!   Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 14.44.14     Blueberries This humble berry packs an impressive health punch. It contains anthocyanins, a powerful antioxidant that’ll boost your immune system and help you maintain a healthy weight. Try freezing them and eating as a snack by the handful, or blitzing them in your morning Optiwell smoothie. Berry delicious indeed!     Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 14.45.47 Chia seeds These powerful super seeds are a good one to have in your pantry. Healthy and energising, they’re packed with omega-3 and are super simple to prepare. Don’t trust us? Try our chocolately chia seed pudding recipe, prepared the night before so you can wake up to a delicious brekkie (or ‘bressert’!) come morning.       Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 14.46.39   Almonds Want a healthy on-the-go fix with a satisfying crunch? Grab a handful of almonds. They’re an excellent source of ‘good’ fats (otherwise known as monosaturated fats) that are said to lower cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. Plus, they’re rich in vitamin E for healthy skin and glossy hair.   Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 14.47.30   Goji berries Used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years, goji berries are an excellent source of vitamin C and other antioxidants. They help fight disease and are even known to improve vision. Add goji berry powder when baking, as a sugar-free staple in salads or cereals, or soaked and sprinkled on your Optiwell smoothies.   Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 14.48.29
