Awesomely easy and healthy breakfast options
We’ve heard it said a thousand times before: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And although we wholeheartedly agree, with the best will in the world, it often gets sidelined for even more crucial things – showering, for example, or putting on clothes. With that in mind – and because we wouldn’t want you going hungry, now – we’ve put together a list of five of our favourite super simple and healthy breakfast options. [CFG_OVERVIEW_END] So wave goodbye to grabbing an apple as you leave the house or surviving on coffee until your lunch break finally rolls around – no more excuses, people!
1. Breakfast bowl
Sure, we may be biased, but this one really is one of the quickest and most delicious breakfast options out there. All you have to do is grab your favourite flavour of Optiwell and pour it over some freshly chopped fruit – so a few fresh berries, or sliced peaches and apricots. Then sprinkle over a handful of your favourite granola and chow down. Please note: if you make this in the office, your colleagues will have serious breakfast envy. Be prepared.
2. Smoothie bowl
For the smoothie lovers among you who like a bit of texture, you’ll love a good smoothie bowl. Blend up about 100g frozen berries, 100ml strawberry and raspberry Optiwell and a handful of porridge oats. Top with fresh fruit and any of your favourite super foods – fresh berries, goji berries, pumpkin, chia or sunflower seeds – whatever you like, really!
3. Super smoothie
Of course, we would encourage you to try out our very own Opti-smoothie, but for something a little different, try a peanut butter and banana number. Just whizz up a banana, a tablespoon or so of peanut butter, 50ml milk, a squirt of honey and a couple of ice cubes and enjoy the creamy (and surprisingly healthy) goodness.
4. Overnight bircher
Okay, so it’s not something you can whip up in before you shoot out the door in the morning but, if you’re organised on a relaxed Sunday evening, you’ll be thanking yourself for the rest of the week. Soak 200g rolled oats in 300ml apple juice, 300ml milk, a squirt of lemon juice and sprinkling of cinnamon. In the morning, all your oats will be nice and plump, so spoon some into a bowl and top with grated apple, honey and some fresh raspberries. Yum.
5. Breakfast bars
There are tons of recipes for no-bake power bars out there – perfect for storing at work so you don’t have to worry about breakfast first thing. The core ingredients are rolled oats, dates and honey for sweetness, peanut butter because, erm, it’s delicious, and any seeds, nuts or dried fruit you fancy.
