Our top tips to help you unwind at night
We think you’re always a better you when you’ve had a good night’s sleep. Sometimes drifting off and leaving your worries at the bedroom door is easier said than done – that’s why we’ve pulled together some of our favourite tips you can try to help you get the late night rest you need.
Still with us? Let’s go.
Get the kids settled: The pitter-patter of tiny footsteps late at night can only mean one thing; the kids can’t sleep. No matter how adorable they might be, sleepless nights make for manic mornings. Making sure they’re fast asleep nice and early can help you unwind the way you want to. Try splashing a touch of lavender oil on their pillow case – it’s a natural relaxation remedy and works a treat!
Scented candles: Winding down in the evening after work is nothing more than you deserve! Whether you’re losing yourself in your favourite paperback or watching one more episode of that series that has you hooked – lighting a scented candle can go a long way to setting the mood and helping you relax!
Bubbles aren’t just for Saturday night: Losing yourself in the tub before bed really does relax the senses and prepare you for sleep. Try adding some aromatherapy oil to the water; it soothes the skin and makes you feel just that bit more pampered. As for the bubbles, well they’re just fun aren’t they!
Leave the iPad downstairs: Browsing the web for the perfect set of show-stopping heels might seem a great pass time but it can make it harder to fall asleep. Artificial light from phones and other devices has been shown to trick our brain into thinking it’s still daylight hours. Try sticking to your night time novel.
Give chamomile a try: If you’re anything like us, you’re always on the lookout for a new brew. Recently, we’ve not been able to get enough of chamomile tea, it’s delicious and good for you too! Studies show that it helps relieve anxiety and stress related tension, making your sleep every bit as relaxing as you want it to be.
